Mumbai Local Train Mega Block on November 1: Central Railway Services Hit, Western Line Gets Relief
Mumbai local train services will face disruptions on November 1 as Central Railway announces mega blocks on the Main and Trans-Harbour lines, while Western Railway schedules a night block between Borivali and Bhayandar.
Meanwhile, Western Railway will operate a night block on its fast lines between Borivali and Bhayandar during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. However, suburban train services on Western Railway will remain normal during the day on Sunday.
Central Railway to Undertake Five-Hour Block on Main Line
Central Railway will impose a block on the up and down slow lines between CSMT and Vidyavihar from 10.55 am to 3.55 pm on Sunday.
During this period, down slow local trains departing from CSMT will be diverted onto the fast line up to Vidyavihar. These trains will halt at Byculla, Parel, Dadar, Matunga, Sion and Kurla stations before returning to the slow line at Vidyavihar.
Similarly, up slow local trains departing from Ghatkopar will be diverted onto the fast line between Vidyavihar and CSMT. These trains will stop at Kurla, Sion, Matunga, Dadar, Parel and Byculla stations.
The diversion will affect the halts of slow local trains at some stations during the block period.
Trans-Harbour Services to Remain Suspended
On the Trans-Harbour route, a block will be imposed on the up and down lines between Thane and Vashi/Nerul from 11.10 am to 4.10 pm.
During this period, local train services from Thane towards Vashi, Nerul and Panvel, as well as services from these stations towards Thane, will remain cancelled.
The disruption is likely to inconvenience passengers travelling towards Navi Mumbai. However, services on the Harbour and Uran routes will operate according to the scheduled Sunday timetable.
Western Railway to Operate Night Block Between Borivali and Bhayandar
Western Railway will undertake a night block on the up and down fast lines between Borivali and Bhayandar from 11.30 pm on Saturday to 4.30 am on Sunday.
During the block, fast local trains travelling towards Borivali from Virar and Vasai Road, as well as those travelling in the opposite direction, will be diverted onto the slow lines through the affected section.
Some local train services will also be cancelled during this period.
No Daytime Block on Western Railway on Sunday
Unlike Central Railway, Western Railway will not impose any block on its suburban lines during the daytime on Sunday. This will allow passengers travelling on the Western Railway network to use regular suburban services without daytime block-related disruptions.
Passengers have been advised to check their local train timings and the availability of services before leaving home to avoid inconvenience caused by the scheduled maintenance blocks.
The planned blocks will affect train movements across key sections of Mumbai's suburban rail network, making it important for commuters to check service information before beginning their journeys on Sunday.
